Graduate students have the option of taking classes online or at the Metro Center in downtown Syracuse.
During her 30-year leadership career, Gwen Webber-McLeod noticed a pattern among emerging and established leaders who quietly floundered while attempting to achieve business goals, often arriving at their positions as a result of technical ability or longevity, rather than their capacity to lead and manage teams. Their technical skills did not extend to strategic relationship building necessary to motivate, mobilize, and inspire employees. Gwen found leaders were not intentional about developing their own skills and were experiencing feelings of inadequacy, finding themselves at a loss where to turn for help.
Through The Leadership Connection®: A Resource Centered on Great Leadership, a division of Gwen Inc., the company provides leadership education, professional consulting and facilitation, mentoring/coaching, and technical assistance in organizations, businesses, and public venues whose leaders are working to achieve their potential.
Gwen is also the founder of You Can't Fail Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides strategically designed multicultural leadership development experiences for emerging and established women leaders. These experiences explore and place emphasis on the unique leadership journey of professional women of color and those who support them.
Laura and Cindy started their first "Laci's" venture in the regional market commons called Laci's Coffee Cafe. It is still going strong under a new name "Bohemian Beans Cafe" but it still has the same spirit and the same $2.00 chairs they bought at an auction!
They moved from there to Laci's at the Palace Theatre, then onto Laci's Burger Joint on James St. to Laci's Tapas Bar. It has been a great journey so far and I think there may still be more yet to come!
We strive to personify 'customer service'. If you are not greeted with a smile and possibly by your first name (if we remember it) then you are probably not at Laci's. Each venture that we go into is a lesson from the last. We love people and we love food...there you have it.
The Women's Athletic Network is a division of Women TIES that promotes athletic events for women entrepreneurs to participate in, train for or support as spectators.
We want to connect women who are interested in athletics make vital business connections and new relationships with other women state-wide who have the same interests. We hope connecting physically will enhance business relationships and friendships pertinent to success just like men have done for years.
We also want to put more women in the seats supporting female athletic teams. Title IX, which was part of the Higher Education Amendments in 1972, prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance including athletics and sports. Although there is more equality in the number of girls and boys sports teams in high school and college, there still aren't equal numbers of spectators or season holders supporting women's athletic events. We hope this new division can contribute to helping this cause.
