Description: The KEYS Program delivers music, hope and smiles to kids battling cancer, and those in need of healing, through music outreach, education and advocacy. KEYS provides patient support of bedside music, family respite days & sibling support programs to children battling cancer at no cost to the families they serve. Since 1993, KEYS has delivered just over 80,000 smiles! |
|
Profile: "In what seemed just a blink ago, I was in a hospital room helping my mother gently maneuver headphones on my father’s ears. My father’s journey with cancer was brief, and we knew he was nearing his time to leave us. We were just hoping music could help relax him, even just a little, and provide his body enough peace to be able to sleep after days of agitation and pain. Within an hour…he was asleep. As the nurses began asking what we had done to help calm and ease my father’s pain, we said, “We just played music.” That was the life-changing moment that has brought us here over 20 years later."
-KEYS Founder, Colleen Bennett
From that moment in November of 1993, the KEYS Program was born to help bring music, comfort, hope and smiles to kids going through the same difficult time, in memory of Colleen's father.
Today, with the help of over 100 volunteers, the KEYS Program provides its award-winning patient support programs to children treated in 44 children's hospitals, special needs sites and hospice agencies across the US. Colleen has been recognized for her dedication to children receiving the Child Care Council of Cornell Cooperative Extensions Friend of Children Award, Who's Who Among American Women and the KEYS Program has been named one of the top 15 children's charities in the US by the Tony Stewart Foundation for the past 4 years.

Secure Inspirational Jewelry Store. The story behind our bracelets have made them a meaningful gift to share with someone special and all proceeds benefit Maureen's Hope Foundation. While my sister Maureen was battling cancer she wore a fun and inspirational bracelet from Chicos throughout her journey. While she was wearing a less than flattering hospital gown her bracelet became a symbol of normalcy and represented the fun spirited person she was. May you get the same joy from your bracelet and let it bring out your Live, Love, Laugh attitude! Enjoy!
